Diego Berea is a consultant, author, and speaker. He is a computer engineer, the managing partner of Ozona Consulting, and a member of the editorial team for ISO/IEC 20000 in ISO/IEC JTC1 SC40, focusing on Service Management, and for ISO 24896 in ISO TC37, based on IBCS, which deals with semantic notation for business communication.
IBCS® Certified Consultant
Diego Berea has successfully completed the IBCS® certification for successful design of reports and presentations at the HICHERT+FAISST IBCS Institute in July 2024.

Work sample 1 - before Speedometers are one of those visualizations that IBCS advises against using. In this case, they are used to display real-time data, which can vary with each observation, just like on a vehicle’s dashboard. In the attached figures, the speedometers used in the intelligent service monitoring platform Obsidian are shown.

Work sample 1 - after To make them as much IBCS-compliant as possible, the following premises have been followed:
• Use the speedometers only to show real-time information.
• Instead of showing the color of the segment in which the pointer is located, use red or green only to show the deviation from the threshold, so that the color band is larger or smaller depending on the deviation from the target. -
