ISO 24896 Notation for business reporting

ISO 24896 establishes a consistent semantic notation for business communication with written reports, live presentations, and analytic dashboards. It specifies requirements for the visual appearance of recurring aspects such as the labelling of content, the layout of charts and tables, the representation of data values, as well as the visualization of their characteristics.

Under development

The Committee Draft is approved for registration as Draft International Standard. The public release of ISO 24896 is expected in 2026.

ISO 24896 has its roots in IBCS notation

ISO 24896 is based on suggestions for consistent business reporting notation developed by the International Business Communication Standards (IBCS) Association (mainly the UNIFY and CHECK parts of IBCS’ SUCCESS formula). They have been successfully used in practice for many years.

The IBCS Association makes an effective contribution to the development of ISO 24896 as an A-liaison of ISO.
